Virginia Holte began her Gyrotonic journey in 1999 by traveling to San Francisco and receiving instruction from Master Trainers at San Francisco GYROTONIC®. Since that time, Ms. Holte has studied exclusively with Juliu Horvath, creator and founder of GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. She is now one of Juliu’s select group of internationally-certified, specialized Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Master Trainers, conducting teacher training in Hawaii and by request at other locations around the globe. Using a holistic approach, Virginia instructs with care and consideration to each individual’s needs.

The founder and artistic director for West Hawaii Dance Theatre & Academy, Ms. Holte graduated from The Academy of the Washington Ballet in Washington, D.C., under the direction of Mary Day. Ms. Holte enjoyed a long career as a professional dancer with the Washington Ballet, Chicago Ballet, and Indianapolis Ballet Theatre. She was also a guest dancer for companies such as Ballet Internationale, Infinity Ballet, and Indiana Ballet Theatre N.W., before moving to the Big Island of Hawaii in 1986. A third series practitioner of Ashtanga yoga, Ms. Holte is certified in Pilates Method mat & equipment, Zena Rommett Floor-Barre® and the Cecchetti Method of classical ballet.
